right on the competition's tail with a new gas engine lineup that offers both kick-ass fuel economy and heart-pounding performance.  The 2010 Fusion features Duratec engines that deliver seat-hugging power PLUS chart topping fuel economy and low emissions.  They're mated to the only 6-speed transmission lineup in the mid-size class. 

• Intake Variable Cam Timing-  provides great efficiency under low load conditions such as idling or highway cruising while also delivering powerful acceleration.
• Dual Overhead Camshaft-  a valvetrain with 4 valves
  per cylinder for improved engine breathing.
• All-new 6-speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission-  Standard on fusion Sport and enables the driver to choose a clutchless manual shifting mode.  Also included on the 3.0 V6
• Electric Power Steering-  On the 2.5L and 3.0L V6 engines to reduce engine load for steering assist - helping improve fuel efficiency.
• Aggressive Deceleration Fuel Shutoff-  Temporarily
  shuts off fuel delivery when drivers take their foot off
  the gas, for improved fuel efficiency.

• A chassis that enables the four-wheel independent suspension to absorb road harshness and deliver precise response to steering inputs.  It makes Fusion a blast to drive!
• An independent double-wishbone front suspension that helps provide a smooth ride and keeps the driver in close touch with the road. 
• An independent multi-link twist blade rear suspension that helps keep Fusion's rear tires planted firmly on the road and eliminates the need for large shock towers that reduce trunk space.
• Rack and pinion steering to provide quick, responsive steering that naturally follows a straight line as the wheel is turned.
• Electric power steering (EPS) is standard to help
  improve fuel economy and eliminate noises common with hydraulic systems. 
• Standard AdvanceTrac electronic stability control to help drivers maintain vehicle stability in adverse driving situations or when making evasive maneuvers on slippery pavement.
• Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS provides powerful and precise braking.  Low-metallic, high-friction brake pad material features durability and dust control resulting in potentially lower maintenance costs and cleaner wheels.
• A sport tuned suspension on Fusion Sport and SEL with optional 18" wheels that features revised shock absorbers and springs and a larger rear stabilizer bar t provide a

Fusion's fun to drive character extends to the interior design with new seats, new fabrics, new gauges, and new finishes and trim.  All models feature a more contemporary look with new finishes on the instrument panel, center console, doors and steering wheel.  A redesigned steering wheel, a new shifter, and wrapped and padded armrests increase the Fusion's sportiness and comfort.  New standard ice blue lighting for interior controls and available ambient interior lighting are also features separating Fusion from the everyday crowd. 

• All-new seats and seating material give Fusion cutting-edge style.  The seat contour is revised, with more side support down low and the seat was also made softer, with smoother bolsters and more highly textured inserts for more comfort.
• New Ice Blue lighting enhances the overall feel of the interior with illumination for all interior controls including the instrument cluster, center console, power door lock and window switches and steering-wheel-mounted controls.  
• A new center stack puts the audio, navigation, and climate controls within ergonomic reach.
• A cool "welcome" greets drivers when they first turn Fusion on.  Ford's DNA welcome strategy brings instrumentation to life once the key is inserted, followed by a wide, sweeping, "hello" from the gauge needles once the car comes to life.  New, retuned chiming features complement the friendly welcome. 
• A new instrument gauge cluster with a centered speedometer and revised message center is crisp, clean, and easy to read.  The cluster features daytime backlighting, a black lens and 3D elements to create a jewel-like appearance that's similar to a fine watch.
• New soft-touch composite-skinned door panels and instrument panel challenge the class in style and
  comfort, including a seamless passenger-side airbag cover.

• SYNC with 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Reports is
  the hands-free in-car communications and entertainment system developed by Ford and Microsoft.  The system
  fully integrates most Bluetooth enabled phones and digital media players, providing you with hands-free mobile phone and music selection capabilities.  It can also control Fusion's automatic climate control system.  SYNC adds even more functionality with traffic, direction, and information services, 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Reports provided at no extra cost.
• SIRIUS Travel Link is an industry-leading suite of data services that include real-time traffic data with accident and incident info, coast-to-coast weather data and fuel price info for over 120,000 gas stations.  Travel Link also offers sports scores and schedules and a listing of over 4,500 movie theaters.
• Voice-Activated Navigation System combines voice recognition destination entry, climate control, and SIRIUS radio into one easy-to-use system using an 8" touch-screen display.  The text-to-speech function announces street names and reads incoming messages when it is linked to SYNC.  An integrated DVD player and a 10GB music jukebox function stores about 2,400 songs or approximately 30 images.
• Rearview Camera System consists of a small camera mounted on the decklid which gives drivers a clear view behind the vehicle when shifted into reverse.  The video image is displayed on the navigation screen or in the auto-dimming mirror on non-navigation equipped cars.
• BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross
  Traffic Alert warns drivers of vehicles approaching their "blind spots" by illuminating an indicator located in the exterior mirrors.  BLIS functions while driving and alerts drivers of another vehicle entering the blind zone slowly, while cross traffic alert operates while the vehicle is in reverse, as when backing out of a parking space.
• Industry-Exclusive Easy Fuel capless fuel filler system draws from Fusion's NASCAR technology to eliminate the need for a fuel filler cap and help make fill-ups easier. 
• SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad enables the driver to lock/unlock the doors and open the trunk by simply using the numbered keypad on the driver's door.
